How Fulani Herdsman attacked me in the Farm and cut of my Hand – Nigerian woman

Mrs Wuaherna Zeku, a female farmer Narrrates how she was ambushed by suspected fulani herdsmen who chopped off her hand on her farm.

My name is Mrs Wuaherna Chekum.  I hail from Gboogyo village but now live in Udei in the Guma Local Government Area of Benue. I relocated from the interior village to the nearby Udei community because Fulani herdsmen attacked the community sometimes ago and we were displaced following the attack.

I was attacked at Gboogyo village in the Guma Local Government Area, which is a border community between Benue and Nasarawa states.

I left Udei to the interior village of Gboogyo on Friday last week, to inspect my melons and beniseed. At the time I got to the farm, nothing suggested that herdsmen were lurking around. So, I went round the melon farm, I went further to inspect the beniseed farm. It was when I got to the beniseed farm that I discovered that cows had strayed into the farm. I saw their footprints and other traces that they had destroyed the beniseed.

I finished going round the farm and I decided to excrete when I heard the mooing of some cows. Before I could adjust myself to go back to the farm, suddenly I noticed some movements behind me as if someone was trying to grab me.   Immediately I turned to see who could be the person, the man gave me a deep cut on my forehead. I started bleeding severely and I lost control of myself and fell down.

When I regained consciousness, it seemed to me that my assailant was still up in front of me. Therefore, I tried to grab the person. But after I thought I had seized the person, I discovered that what I grabbed was the part of my hand that had been cut off. I could not get the cutlass but I held half of my hand.

It was when I held unto the part of my hand that was cut off that it occurred to me that I should shout for help. By then I had started running and screaming for help. All this while, blood was gushing out of the hand and I was in serious pain. However, I was trying to use the last strength in me to escape from the scene. I held tightly to the part of my hand that was cut off and I was running and screaming along the bush path but I discovered that the hand fell off from the one I used to hold it.

But it got to a point where I could no longer run. So, I fell down and I started calling people around for help, begging them to also assist me to search for the hand that had fallen off. Some persons came to find out who was crying.  I was down and crying but I could not hear the mooing of the cows again.

I heard the cows mooing everywhere in the farm but after the attack, I didn’t hear them again. When this happened, I lost my voice and couldn’t shout again.

When I was attacked, I saw cows eating my beniseed.  My intention was to go and check other farms close to mine and inform the farmers that cows were around the area and that, they should come and see what the herdsmen and their cows had done to my farm.

My husband went out to look for money for my treatment. But the problem is that he has no other job except farming, and since, 2018 we have been denied access to our farms. We used to sneak to the farm and do a little work before running back for fear of the herdsmen. Now just common instrument the hospital said it will use to check my temperature (thermometer). They asked me to pay N250.00.  I couldn’t afford it.

"Arrest Yahoo Boys, Don’t Harass Innocent Nigerian Citizens - President Buhari Informs Police

Inspector General Of Police Mohammed Adamu and President Muhammadu Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has cautioned officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force against harassing young people in their bid to arrest ‘Yahoo criminals.’

Buhari handed down this warning in his keynote address at the opening ceremony of the Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers on Monday in Lagos.

The theme of the retreat is, ‘Repositioning the Force for the Challenges of Effective Policing in the 21st Century.’

Represented by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Buhari said the service the Police Force rendered was one Nigerians could not do without, as it was the closest to the grassroots.

According to him, there are police stations everywhere and the police above every other service represent law and order to the average Nigerian.

“Which is why the police cannot escape public scrutiny and sometimes criticism; Nigerian people old and young want our Police force to be better and to do better; they want to be even prouder of your service than ever before.

“This is why in some of our urban areas we want to see more compliance with the rule of law and in dealing with Nigerians.

“Recently many civil society groups have complained about the arrest of young men and women just because they look successful and are carrying laptops.

“Yes we must apprehend yahoo criminals but we cannot harass young men and women on the streets and in taxis most of whom are merely going about their legitimate businesses.

“There are also cases of extrajudicial killings and injuries; misuse of weapons and excessive use of force by some members of the force.

“This sort of conduct by a few bad police officers must stop; and it is the duty of you senior and strategic leaders of the Police force to ensure that impunity of any kind is discouraged and punished where it is found.’’

Buhari said that the Nigeria Police force was one of the proudest National assets as it was the largest police force in Africa.

He said that the force had some of the best trained and best educated men and women.

The president said that Nigerian policemen had served everywhere locally and internationally with outstanding results.

“The Nigeria police force led police peace keeping activities in Congo, Namibia,Angola,Western Sahara,Somalia , Liberia, Sierra Leone, Bosnia Herzegovina , Croatia, Afghanistan, Kosovo, East Timor.

“Locally in the past one year alone the Nigeria police has between January and this month arrested over ;2,348 Armed Robbery suspects – 1,412 Suspected kidnappers 694 Murder Suspects, 1,513 Cultists safely rescued 826 Kidnap victims, recovered-1,660 firearms and 1612 vehicles.

“In the course of duty so many have paid the supreme price; while fighting off robbers, kidnappers and other criminals many have been maimed for life.’’

EFCC Arrests Mompha’s Lebanese collaborator with charms in N1.8b per year luxury Lagos home

n a recent development, about three accomplices of the individual have also been nabbed by officials of the anti-graft agency in Lagos. According to reports by The Nation, one of Mompha’s accomplices is a Lebanese identified as Hamza Koudeih.

The individual was arrested over the weekend in his luxury home situated at the Eko Atlantic Pearl Tower, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The report noted that Koudeih’s arrest came to play following intelligence that was discovered after Mompha’s arrest.

All four of them have reportedly laundered the sum of N33 billion through three firms. Koudeih and his wife had refused to open the door to their apartment, several hours after the EFCC operatives arrived at the premises.

A plea from the chief security officer did not also yield any result in getting the couple to respond to several calls and beckons to open the door, the report disclosed.

However, the operatives refused to leave premises because from indications Koudeih and his wife were inside the apartment, despite their pretense to deceive the EFCC men that they were not around.

After more than two hours of battling with the reinforced door of the apartment, the operatives gained entry and met the Lebanese’s wife who claimed that he had escaped through the window, despite the fact they that occupied the 33rd floor of the skyscraper.

Eventually, the suspect was found hiding in the ceiling of his bedroom. They pushed it open and found Koudeih hiding in the ceiling.

A quick sweep of the room revealed charms and talisman that were hidden in a fire-proof safe.

EFCC Lagos Zonal Head Momammed Rabo, confirmed the arrest of the suspects.

However, their nationality still remains unknown.

'Rogue Doctor' Infects Over 900 Children With HIV After He Used The Same Needle on Them

Up to 900 children have now been infected with HIV by 'rogue doctor' who reused infected syringes in Pakistan

Earlier this year, it was reported that there had been an outbreak of 500 cases of the virus in Ratodero.

But now the figure is as high as 1,100, with 900 children, with health officials fearing hundreds more after pediatrician Dr. Muzaffar Ghanghro allegedly used infected syringes.

The doctor was charging 16p a visit and was one of the cheapest in the city.

Imtiaz Jalbani had six of his children treated by the doctor and said he once saw him rummaging through a bin for an old needle on his son, six, who was later diagnosed as HIV-positive.

Four of Mr Jalbani's children have since tested positive for HIV and the two youngest have died.

Another parent said Dr Ghanghro used the same drip on 50 children without changing the needle.

He was later arrested and charged with negligence and manslaughter after the scale of the outbreak came out.

‘Don’t decline a date because you’re in a relationship’ – Nigerian Lady advises fellow ladies

A Nigerian lady identified as Oge Nsimah has used her social media platform to share a piece of advice for ladies that are in relationships, and are still often approached by men.

According to Nsimah, when ladies are approached by men that have taken interest in them, they should not form the habit of declining the request simply because they have a boyfriend.

Nsimah noted that a date does not entirely translate into a make-out session, but rather an opportunity to make new friends and get to meet other people.

“Ladies, when a man ask you out on a date, do not decline because you have a boyfriend. Going out on a date is not to ‘make out’ but a friendly offer for the purpose of getting to know you better and be friends moving forward,” her post read in part.

Explaining her point further, Nsimah noted that ladies should not send good men away simply because of their lover. She expressed that it is better to make self-centred decisions and turn down courtship proposal willingly as opposed to declining men because of the presence of another man.

She said: “Even if a man wants you to be his lover, do not say, I have a boyfriend, just say a polite no, I am not interested.”
